What’s happening in kid ministry today?
Here’s the results of the first international survey of Kid Ministry:

Nearly 1 in 2 KidMin programs

are understaffed.

Best practice is 1 volunteer for every 6 kids (1:6). In our survey, nearly half of ministries reported higher ratios than that, meaning kids get less attention and volunteers face greater strain.

63% of leaders say their pay

doesn’t match the workload

Leader wellbeing matters — and sustainability challenges affect how ministries can invest in kids and families long-term.

Parent involvement

hasn’t fully returned.

Post-COVID, many leaders still report smaller attendance and less parent engagement. And the data shows why: when volunteer teams are stretched thin and parents aren’t as involved, kids are harder to retain week to week.
